Mary Jane Mugerauer

Mary Jane Mugerauer, age 86, affectionately known as “Janer” by her family died on Friday, May 11, 2012 at Golden Age Manor in Amery, Wisconsin. She was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on April 10, 1926 to Henry and Mary (Schneider). She was the third of six children. Mary Jane attended Sacred Heart Grade School and South Park Junior High. While at a Gene Autry stage show on December 7, 1941, Mr. Autry announced to her and the rest of the audience that Pearl Harbor had been bombed and all the children needed to return home to their parents. In her Senior Year of High School, she was recruited to work at a war-time assembly plant where she was issued dog tags as her work was classified. On July 27, 1945, she was united in marriage to Arthur (Archie) Mugerauer. To this union one daughter, Ruth was born. In 1954, Archie and Mary moved to this area and built and very successfully ran the “Four Corner’s Restaurant” (now known as Crossroads). Mary Jane loved to cook and bake. She was an avid reader, and her favorite movie was the Sound of Music. She loved to volunteer at school where she was affectionately known as Miss Mary. Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband, archie; her parents, Mary and Henry Frank; brother, Harold Frank and his wife, Ann; sister, Florence and her husband Herbert Mugerauer; in laws Mary and William Mugerauer; brother-in –law, Robert Mugerauer and his wife, Viola; brother-in-law Herbert Mugerauer and his wife, Vianne; sister-in-law Josephine Mugerauer and nephew,Gerald Mugerauer. She is survived by daughter, Ruth; many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, great grand nieces and nephews; honorary daughter, Marlene Gustafson; honorary son, Gaylord Kemline and many friends. Mary Jane greatly appreciated the loving care the wonderful staff at Golden Age Manor gave her the last nine years she spent with them. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2012 from St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amery, Wisconsin. A visitation will be held the hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Amery Cemetery.
