Aaron was born in Cameron, WI on November 24, 1918. He was the eldest son of Frank and Hulda Lutz. When he was about three, his dad bought a farm west of Almena. He talked about walking two miles to a one-room school. They farmed until he was 11 years old when his Dad got hurt and could no longer farm. The family then moved to Amery. Aaron helped with delivering eggs to St. Paul. He did janitor work at Redeemer Lutheran and also worked at the golf course. After graduating from high school in 1936, he worked on farms and at a gas station. He met his wife, Avis while working on her father's farm. He was drafted into the Army and was stationed in Chicago and Tampa, and went overseas in 1941 where he was stationed in England and Ireland as part of the Army Air Force. He worked in the supply depot until after D Day when he joined forces in France and Germany. He returned in August, 1945 and married Avis Munson on October 6, 1945. He got his first job in Amery with the Chrysler Plymouth garage and spent 35 years as their book keeper/parts man. After retiring he worked 12 years for Impact 7 as a janitor and handyman. Aaron joined V.F.W. Post 7929 in 1945. He was one of the first members and helped them remodel the old building to become the post they have used since. He acted as Commander, Quartermaster and Chaplain and was a lifetime member. He was a faithful marcher in the Amery Fall Festival as part of the color guard for many years. Aaron was confirmed at Redeemer Lutheran Church and was always active in his church. He was on the Board and was treasurer for many years. He was also an avid baseball fan and helped organize a team while stationed in Chicago. He also coached 4-H softball teams for several years. He enjoyed watching baseball on television in his later years, and spent many hours teaching his children how to play. Aaron was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a grandson. He is survived by his loving wife, Avis; five children, Kathy (Dave) Fish, Marsha Cogswell, Steve (Sheryl) Lutz, Yvonne (Allen) Cardinal, and Kevin (Karen) Lutz; 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers and many nieces and nephews. Aaron was a faithful follower of Christ, a gentle and caring husband, a wonderful friend, and an inspiration to his children and grandchildren. He will be missed by all of us. He passed away quietly at Willow Ridge Healthcare Center where he pent the last five months, on October 22, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Deer Park. A visitation will be held the hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Amery Cemetery at 1:30 pm Thursday. Pallbearers are all of Aaron's grandchildren and great grandchildren.
