Adeline Swenson passed away peacefully on March 13, 2014 at Golden Age Manor in Amery, Wisconsin. Adeline was born on May 3, 1924 in Rice Lake, Wisconsin to Ingvald and Bertha Gunderson. She graduated from Spooner High school and attended Lake College in Waukegan, Illinois. She married Roy Swenson in Rice Lake on June 7, 1947. They moved to Stevens Point, Wisconsin where Roy completed his degree and then moved to Milwaukee when they built a home and raised five children. Adeline was a busy housewife and was very active in her church. They enjoyed many summer vacations in Northern Wisconsin and a great number of camping trips down South and to the West. As her children grew up, Adeline was able to renew associations in Rice Lake where they purchased a cabin on Long Lake, where she was able to enjoy some of her favorite pastimes, reading and bird watching. After some health issues slowed her down a bit, Adeline moved out to Raleigh North Carolina and spent time enjoying her daughter and family, a period in her life she always spoke of fondly. As time moved on, she felt that she would like to return to Wisconsin and she moved in with her oldest son and his wife and children in Amery. Always positive, she enjoyed the small town country life, watching her birds, spoiling her dog and reading when she could. Adeline suffered a hip injury and moved in to Golden Age Manor where she enjoyed and participated in their busy programs. Always remembered for her cheerful outlook and positive approach to life, her famous saying, "This too shall pass", will always be in the memory of those who knew her. Adeline was preceded in passing by her husband, Roy, and is survived by her children, Jerry (Becky) Swenson of Amery, Wisconsin; Susan (Richard) Samplaski of Dumfries, Virginia; Nancy (Lee) Garrett of Raliegh, North Carolina; Ken (Cindy) Swenson of Milwaukee, WI; and Jim (Judy) Swenson of Colgate, WI. Adeline is also survived by a brother, Lester Gunderson of Rice Lake and his children, Linda Gunderson of Rice Lake and Tom (Robin) Gunderson of Chippewa Falls, WI; as well as 10 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A celebration of Adeline's life will be held at a later date.
