Aloys "Jay" Cordie was born in Brainerd, Minnesota on November 29, 1941 the son of Aloys John and Florence Irene (Thomas) Cordie. He grew up in Stillwater, Minnesota and after leaving school he served in the United States Army. When his enlistment was up he returned to Stillwater. On August 8, 1964 he was married to Sandra Ann Albee. They continued living in Stillwater. He spent most of his life as a tool & die maker. He worked for Stampings of Minnesota in Lakeville, Minnesota for many years. On May 21, 1983 he was married to Diane Lou Cran in Newport, Minnesota. They lived in Newport, MN until building a home in rural Clayton, Wisconsin in 2005. Jay enjoyed the outdoors and the hunting and fishing it offered. He had a trailer at the Clam Falls Campground that he enjoyed using whenever possible. Jay has battled cancer for the past 5 years and passed away at his home on Monday, September 16, 2013 at the age of 71 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters: Juanne, and Ann. Surviving family members include his wife Diane; sons: Michael Cordie and Marshall Cordie (Tara); daughters: Monica Cordie, Malisa McMahon (Tim), Melinda Donaldson and Michelle Geiger; step-children: Nancy Randen (Chris) and Dustin Boelter; 21 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; sisters and best friend Nancy (Paul) Langness, and Rita and other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Amery. There will be a time of visitation for the hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Northern Wisconsin Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Spooner, Wisconsin.
