Ann Marie Griffin

Ann Marie Favreau was born to Edward and Anna Favreau (Turgeon) on November 21, 1924, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

She attended Minneapolis North High School.

In 1943 she was united in marriage to George F. Griffin in New York City.

It was wartime and George was in the Navy on board ship, so Ann returned to Minneapolis where she worked for Munsingwear making military hammocks and later at a company which made land mine detectors.

After the war the couple moved to Amery where they made their home.

Two children were born, Cynthia and Michael.

While raising her family Ann was active with the Girl Scouts and also St Joseph Church, heading up several committees and events for the church over the years. She also enjoyed being an American Red Cross Grey Lady for 25 years, volunteering at Golden Age Manor.

Upon George's retirement from Amery Telephone Company in 1981, Ann and George wintered in Mesa Az. There she took up painting and was a member of the Spectral Artists. Her artwork was award-winning in numerous juried shows. Today it graces the walls of many of her friends and family.

Ann passed away on December 29, 2010, at Willow Ridge, with family by her side.

Preceding her in death were her parents, brother Richard Favreau, sisters Beatrice Luby and Marcella Farrell.

Survivors include husband of 67 years, George, daughter Cynthia Jensen (Michael), son Michael (Kathy), grandsons; Todd Griffin (Jacki), Jeffrey Jensen (Mona), Scott Jensen (Sara), granddaughters; Stacey Roberts, Karen Gorres (Beau) and Michelle Jensen, 13 great-grandchildren and brother Edward Favreau, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 on Monday, January 3, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amery, with a visitation one hour prior to services. Officiating will be The Very Reverend John Drummy and Deacon Bud Heiser, music will be provided by Arlene Dado and the St. Joseph Funeral Choir. There will be a private family interment at the Amery Cemetery in the spring.
