Anna Marie Olson, age 88 of Amery, Wisconsin died on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at the Amery Regional Medical Center. She was born on November 13, 1925 in Bemidji, Minnesota to Ole and Jennie Strand. She was baptized at home and confirmed at the Nymore Lutheran Church. She was active in her home church during her teenage years, singing in the choir, directing a youth choir, and occasionally doing secretarial work. Anna graduated from Bemidji High School. She worked at the First National Bank of Bemidji for 7 years. She attended Augsburg College in Minneapolis, and was later employed in the treasurer's office at the college. On August 5, 1950, Anna was married to Albert Olson, after which they left for Seattle, Washington, where her husband served Ballard Lutheran Free Church. Two children, Barbara and Patricia, were born to them while in Seattle. In 1954 they left for Taiwan as missionaries, where they spent eight years. While in Taiwan, a daughter, Rebecca was born to them. Following their return from Taiwan in 1962, congregations were served at Barronett, Amery, and Birnamwood, Wisconsin. From 1982 to 2008 she and her husband resided in Deronda, Wisconsin, and had been members of the Deronda Lutheran Church where she served as the organist for 12 years, as financial secretary for 10 years, and was active in the women's work of the congregation. They joined Amery Free Lutheran church in 2013. Anna also worked in the Amery Public Library for nine years. Preceding her in death are her father and mother, and two brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her husband, Albert; three daughters, Barbara (John) Fahrendholz, Patricia (John) Rieth, and Rebecca (Timothy) Kjeseth; 10 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and two sisters, Margaret Berry and Jeanette Heath.

Funeral services will be held at Amery Free Lutheran Church in rural Amery on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. There will be a visitation at the church for the hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the Deronda Cemetery.
