Annabelle Charlotte Tulgren was born in Pettybone, North Dakota on September 4, 1921 the daughter of Eugene and Anna (Bloomberg) Haynes. After her father's death Annabelle's mother moved the family to White Birch, Wisconsin where she attended school. When she was old enough to work she took a job with a family near Reeve, Wisconsin where she helped them at home and in the local café. While working at that café she met Evan Tulgren. In 1941 she was crowned the first Miss Clear Lake. On January 20, 1943 she was united in marriage to Evan in Jackson Heights, New York. Evan being in the service was moved to different locations, but Annabelle with her sister Dorothy stayed in New York. Annabelle worked in several restaurants over the years. She moved to Georgia when Evan was stationed there. After his discharge they moved back to Wisconsin near Amery where they farmed together. When her children reached school age she took a job at UFE and worked there for 20 years until retiring. Annabelle was a great cook and well known for her homemade bread and cinnamon rolls. She liked gardening, both flowers and vegetables. She canned much of the produce she grew. The past three and a half years she has been a resident at the Christian Community Home in Osceola, Wisconsin where she died on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at the age of 93 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Evan, sons Michael and Gregory; grandson Jesse Tulgren; sister Dorothy Eckert and infant sister Beatrice; brothers Art, Harvey, Lynn, Earl and Dick Haynes. Surviving family members include her son Dennis (Cyndi) Tulgren; daughter Shelly (Deloy) Larson, nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, six step-great grandchildren and four step-great great grandchildren as well as other relatives and friends.


Funeral services will be held at Little Falls Lutheran Church in rural Amery on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. There will be visitation at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and for the hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Clear Lake Cemetery.
