Annette Marie Maxon was born in Amery, Wisconsin on May 8, 1962 the daughter of Harrison "Bub" and Joan (Berget) Maxon. She grew up in Amery and attended the Amery Public Schools. While in high school she participated in gymnastics and softball. She graduated from Amery High School with the class of 1980. She attended Lothian Fashion School in the twin cities to study fashion design. She later attended massage school to became a massage therapist and worked for Dr. Lowell Magelssen at First Chiropractic in Shoreview, MN for 22 years. On May 11, 1996 she was married to Kevin Burkman. They lived in the Cambridge and Isanti areas and together they had two children. She was always active in her church and was part of a bible study group. Annette enjoyed scrap booking and crafts. Family events and gatherings were very important to her. Her family referred to her as a "collector". She enjoyed camping and biking when time allowed. No matter what, she always had a smile for those around her and she put others first, especially her children and family. Annette has battled cancer for a long time. She recently started a very part time position at Upper Room Wellness Center in Vadnais Heights, Mn encouraging and helping other cancer patients like her. With the help of family and hospice care she was able to remain at home where she died on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at the age of 51 years.
Her grandparents and nephews Kyle Maxon and Christopher Maxon preceded her in death. Surviving family members include her children: Jason and Anthea Burkman; parents: Harrison "Bub" and Joan Maxon; sisters: Cheryl Siemsen (Dean) and Terri Thompson (Rod); brothers: Doug (Shari), Bruce (Karen), Mick (Dawn), David (Wendy) and Jon (Rachel). Annette also leaves many other relatives and friends.
From Annette: "I have lived a good life. There have been challenges, but I always saw them as growing opportunities from the Lord so my relationship with God became closer. I was given many blessings and each and every one of you is a part of those blessings. I want each of you to remember the blessings you have been blessed with. "
Annette Marie Maxon died at her home in Cambridge, Minnesota on December 3, 2013 after a long courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. from Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Amery. There will be a visitation at the funeral home on Friday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. and for the hour prior to the service at the church.
A memorial fund for Annette has been set up at Bremer Bank in Amery.
