Remembering the life of....

Apolonia Theresa Scott, 102, a resident of Riverbend Assisted Living in Amery, Wisconsin, died Friday, January 27, 2017, the day after her 102nd birthday.

Apolonia, later known as Pauline, was born January 26, 1915 in Minneapolis, MN, the 2nd child of Mary (Padula) Dudczak and Jacob Dudczak. During her early years, she attended Holy Cross School in Minneapolis where she learned to speak English. The family moved to a farm near Clear Lake, Wisconsin where she attended 8th grade at Liberty School, and where she and her sister Catherine spent many evenings entertaining the local farm community singing duets. She graduated from Clear Lake H.S. in 1934, and went on to Polk County Normal School in St. Croix Falls where she was a member of the 1936 graduating class. After attending Normal School, she taught in various country schools in West Central Wisconsin for about 10 years.

Pauline married Russell Edwin Scott of Clear Lake on June 15, 1946 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amery. They had six children – Joan (John) Huseth. Bill (Susan), Orea "Anne," John (Connie), Paul (Jessica), and Mary (Mike) Kurth. Their first home was a farm in Black Brook Township where they farmed for about 8 years, and then purchased a propane delivery business. Pauline helped with the bookkeeping of this business, as well as raising a family. After retirement, Pauline and Russell moved to Centuria for many years, making a new life and enjoying retirement, and then back to Clear Lake. The last years of their lives were spent at Riverbend Assisted Living. After her husband, Russell, of 63 years died in 2010, Pauline continued to live her life at Riverbend where she participated in nearly all of the activities, especially enjoying those involving music and religion.

Prayer was a part of Pauline's daily life. Her faith in God was very important to her and evident in her life as a loving wife and mother. She instilled this faith in her children and extended that to all of her family and everyone she knew. She devoted her life to God, her husband, children, and grandchildren.

She is survived by all of her children, grandchildren – Nathan Scott, Ryan Scott, Whitney Babb, Dana Garland, David Kurth, Michael Clark, Christopher Clark, Christian Lantz and Justin Lantz; great-grandchildren - Jillian Scott, Charlotte Scott, Stella Scott, Samuel Garland, Kayla Garland, Abigail Clark, Zachary Clark, Eloise Clark, Keenan Lantz, Julian Lantz, Michael Lantz, and Kaitlyn Lantz; and her sister Dorothy Holmes. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amery. A visitation will be held the hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amery, Wisconsin; the Amery Food Pantry; or a charity of your choice.
