Obituary

Arild Milo Matson age 96, of Amery, Wisconsin passed away on Friday, September 30, 2016 at Golden Age Manor in Amery, Wisconsin.

Arild was born on June 26, 1920 to Peter and Hannah (Hansen) Matson in Kingsbury County, South Dakota. After graduating from Oldham High School he joined the United States Army and was later honorably discharged. On September 15, 1945 he married Helen Sorenson in Oldham, South Dakota. Arild worked at First National Bank in Deer River, Minnesota before they moved to Amery, Wisconsin where Arild accepted a job at the Union State bank. He was a member of the Lions Club, Shriners International, Royal Arch Masons and the American Legion. He was a long time member of First Lutheran Church in Amery and provided morning transportation to those in need on Sunday morning for many years.

Arild is survived by his wife Helen Matson; a son, Bruce Matson; a daughter, Candace Renee (Tom) Muller, brother Norman Matson, sister Betty Bjorkman and other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at the First Lutheran Church in Amery, Wisconsin with Pastor Tim Bjorge officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the Church. Burial will be at the Amery Cemetery where military rites will be rendered by the Amery VFW and the Amery American Legion.
