Jones, Arlene Elsie Christine,
Age 85 passed away peacefully amongst family and friends, at home, on March 24, 2016. Preceded in death by brothers Wally and Paul, and her beloved husband of 58 years, Bob.
She is survived by children, Neil (Ginny), Lee (Sidney), Mitzi (Cliff) Steenberg, Jean (Rory) Pierce; 3 grandchildren - Jason (Kelly) Jones, Mandy (Gabe) Brotzel, and Skylir Pierce; 5 great-grandchildren - Morgan, Mia, and Miley Brotzel, Jackson and Langdon Jones, and Ryelle Coleman; brother, Delbert Miller; sister, Ele Palmberg; sister-in-law Carol Ferguson; several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
Arlene was born in Shell Lake, Wisconsin on December 18, 1931. After marrying Bob, they lived north of Amery, Wisconsin, operating a dairy farm and raising four children. She was a wife, mother, and homemaker first, but also worked as bookkeeper for several Amery area creameries, to include Bell Cheese. She also worked as the Town of Lincoln Treasurer for several years. She enjoyed gardening and crafts, riding her own Ski Doo snowmobile as a founding member of the Amery Snowmobile "Go-Go" Club, and was a member of the "Volga Homemakers". She also volunteered as a Sunday School Teacher at Balsam Lutheran Church and as a 4-H leader for many years.
In 1976, Arlene and Bob moved to Phoenix, Arizona due to Bob's health needs. She continued work as a bookkeeper for several years after moving to Phoenix. They became members of St. John's Lutheran Church in Glendale, Arizona. After retirement they did a lot of traveling and visiting with friends and relatives. They would visit Amery every summer for a couple of weeks and in 2003, bought a trailer that they placed at Port Valhalla Campground. There they would come to spend 2-3 months each summer to be near family and friends.
After Bob's passing in 2009, Arlene moved back to Amery in 2011, living at the Water's Edge Apartments for the last 5 years.
A memorial service will be held at First Lutheran Church at 11:00 am on May 14, 2016, with a one hour visitation starting at 10:00 am. A private family interment will take place at Balsam Lutheran Cemetery in rural Amery.
