Arlene Mae (Steinmeyer), Johnson died peacefully with her family close by on December 15, 2013 at Willow Ridge Healthcare in Amery, Wisconsin at the age of 90. Arlene was born on May 3, 1923 in a farm house in rural Menomonie, Wisconsin the daughter of Einer and Jensina (Madsen) Steinmeyer. She attended Beaver Creek grade school through the 8th grade, and then attended Dunn County Agricultural grades 9 – 12. She received her degree in Education at Dunn County Normal School. She taught school at Fairview and Nippersink School near Menomonie, and later taught in Ridgeland and Poskin, WI. She married Orville Johnson on June 11, 1946. They began their married life in Bremerton, Washington then moved to Chicago, IL while Orville attended Electrical School. They moved to Barron, Wisconsin when he schooling was completed and started a family. Upon building a home in Barron she and Orville raised three daughters. They lived happily in their home for 33 years until Orville's death in 1984. Arlene stayed in their home until 2011 when she then moved to Amery, Wisconsin to be closer to family.
In her younger years Arlene enjoyed raising their 3 daughters and was very accomplished in her sewing skills. She was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church in Barron where she was active in ALCW and Circle. She also volunteered as a Girl Scout leader and the Hospital Auxiliary. Arlene loved to travel with her family at their cabin in Northern, Wisconsin. She was a loving and beloved mother, aunt, sister and friend. She is survived by Dianne (Mark) Berg of Amery and children Ryan of San Diego, Kelly of St. Michael; Donna (Paul) Halverson of Amery and children: Shaina (Gary) of Shakopee, Summer (Nate) of Chippewa Falls, Luke (Clare) of Amery and Greta (Tyler) of Amery; Jean (Gary) Swanson of Solon Springs, WI and children Ben (Erin) of Solon Springs, Eliza (Adam) of Los Angeles and Jacob of Superior, WI; great grandchildren: Bryn, Lauren, Madellyn, Audrey, Myka, Faith, Jonah, Signe, Aveya, Caleb and Makelle; sister-in-law Oceille and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at First Lutheran Church in Barron, Wisconsin on Wednesday December 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. There will be visitation at the church for the hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the Wayside Cemetery in Barron.
