Obituary

Arnold Archie Handy went home to be with the Lord on November 15, 2012 at the age 82. Arnie was born in Martin County, Minnesota on September 14, 1930 to his parents Archie J. and Louise P. (Reichert) Handy. As a child he moved many times but eventually ended up in the St. Paul, Minnesota area where his father took a job with the Hamm's Brewery. Arnie enlisted in the armed forces in 1948 and served in the Army until January of 1952. After the service he worked a few jobs before becoming employed at the same brewery that his father was one time employed at. Later in his life he would meet Violet Gibbons in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. In 1986 they were united in marriage and made their home in St. Paul, Minnesota. In 1992 Arnie retired from The Stroh's Brewery and he and Violet moved to rural Amery where they still were currently residing. Arnie was a member of Elim Lutheran Church in Range, Wisconsin. He was an avid Packer fan and an accomplished artist. Arnie was a true "handy man" who enjoyed working with his hands, especially when it came to making things out of wood. He also loved going to the casino, but more than anything he loved his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother George Handy and sister Arlene Handy. He is survived by his loving wife Violet, son Donald (Robin) Handy, and daughter Linda (Bruce) Carlson. Arnie is also survived by his grandchildren Jason (Kristen) Buchite, Joshua Handy, and Jamie (Carl) Rehbein, great granddaughter Phoebe Handy, and other loving relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 from Elim Lutheran Church, 1277 60th Street, Amery, Wisconsin. Visitation for Arnie Handy will be 1 hour prior to service at the church on Wednesday. Interment with Military Honors will take place at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, Wisconsin.
