August Carl Ludke Jr. was born on January 10, 1952 in Amery, Wisconsin the son of August and Minnie (Rothenbach) Ludke. He grew up in Polk County, Wisconsin. He entered the United States Army in February of 1971. He earned the rank of SP4 and served until being honorably discharged in June of 1972. He was united in marriage to Bonnie Burke and together they had two children. He worked for a number of years at Twin Town Cheese Factory, and then did different jobs in the area. He enjoyed fishing, fixing up old pickup trucks, and playing guitar. He was living in Cameron, Wisconsin at the present time. August died at the Minneapolis Veterans Medical Center on March 25, 2016 at the age of 64.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Delores Zemke, and brother Kenneth Ludke. Surviving family members include his children Joshua Ludke and Angela Hite; sisters: Gloria Plahn, Shirley Lewis, Linda Moore, Carol Mclean, and Marlene Mean, as well as other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held at the Mount Hope Cemetery at Silver Creek on Friday, May 6 at 11:00 a.m. with military honors being provided by the Cameron American Legion Post 194.
