Obituary

Beatrice Marie Olson was born in Beaver Township of Polk County, Wisconsin the daughter of Alec and Elsie (Nagel) Johnson. She grew up on the farm in Beaver Township and attended Turtle Lake High School graduating in 1944. She moved to the twin cities after graduating and worked as a CNA at Anchor Hospital. She left that job and took training to be a beautician. Bea moved to Amery in 1948 and worked in a beauty shop. On October 14, 1949 she was married to Kenneth Olson in Comstock, Wisconsin, and to this union one son was born. They made their home in Amery and she worked at Fabri-tek and Electrocraft. She also spent time doing some home care for elderly people and was at the Amery Hospital as an aide. Bea was a longtime member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Together she and Ken were the caretakers at the Amery Cemetery for five years. In retirement they enjoyed traveling and attended several Army Reunions for Ken's army unit. She and Ken lived on Church Street in Amery for 57 years. For the past 20 months she has been a resident of Golden Age Manor. Bea passed away at the Amery Hospital on Tuesday morning September 16, 2014 at the age of 87 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ken and one brother Charles Johnson. Surviving are her son Steve and other relatives and friends.


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 19, 2014 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Amery. There will be visitation at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. and for the hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Amery Cemetery.
