Calvin Wayne Peters was born on April 25, 1930 in Rice Lake, Wisconsin the son of Abe and Tille (Beran) Peters. He grew up on the family farm with three brothers. As a teenager he worked helping haul milk when it was done in cans, something that led to a lifelong endeavor of being a milk hauler. He attended Amery High School and graduated with the class of 1948. In March of 1951 he entered the United States Navy and his duty assignment was aboard the USS Northampton. He was discharged in March of 1955. He took up hauling milk in 1955 taking the cans to the Volga Creamery. On June 9, 1956 he was united in marriage to Doris (Dorie) Flier and to this union three children were born. As things moved to bulk milk hauling he hauled for the Twin Cities Milk Producers Association and later for the Mid America Dairymen. Work was always a priority with Calvin, but he also raised sheep on his small farm in Amery. He was meticulous in the care of his trucks, equipment and property. Everything was always in tip top shape. He belonged to the National Suffolk Sheep Association. Calvin was also a longtime member of First Lutheran Church in Amery.
