Carol Jean Christensen, Age 71 of Minneapolis, Minnesota passed away on Tuesday, September 14,2010 at Abbott Northwestern hospital in Minneapolis, with her family and friends by her side. She was born on September 30, 1938 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Charles and Dorothy (Knutson) Miller. She grew up in Milwaukee and spent many years with her Grandparents on their farm in Clear Lake, Wisconsin. She excelled in school, and after high school she entered the service and served in the Navy as a nurse. Although being a woman, she wasn't allowed to be a pilot which was one of her desires. While in the service, she married Raymond Louis Christensen Jr., and they were blessed with three children. The couple made their home and raised their children in Minneapolis until 1982. Carol continued to reside in Minneapolis up to her passing. She was involved in the Minneapolis and Richfield Senior Centers, and very active in the Pilgrim Lutheran Church and the Bundles of Love Group knitting clothing for babies and Veterans. She enjoyed doing crafts of many kinds, gardening and watching westerns, in 1997 she traveled to Israel and surrounding countries to bring herself to closer understanding of God and to witness the majestic sights that the Bible described. She came home enlightened and shared much about everything said, heard and seen. Carol is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Charles "Chucky" Miller. She is survived by her son Raymond (Rachel) Christensen, daughter Leanna Jensen and Deandra (Rick) Peterson, sisters Joan (Wally) Gerassimoff, Diane (John) Jakubowski, and Kathy (Bill) Weege, as well as nine grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many other loving relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at the Pilgrim Lutheran Church (3901 Stevens Av S) in Minneapolis, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. A service will also be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at the Williamson-White Funeral Home Chapel (222 Harriman Avenue N.) in Amery, Wisconsin, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Officiating the services will be Pastor Leyrer. Pallbearers will be Ray Christensen, Rick Peterson, Deandra Peterson, Wally Gerassimoff and John Jakubowski. Interment will be at the Clear Lake Cemetery in Clear Lake, Wisconsin.
