Cecilia Louise Letson was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on October 18, 1916 the daughter of Bernard and Rose (Cherne) Juran. She grew up in St. Paul and as a young woman did housework and served as a nanny for several families. She got a job at the St. Anthony Hotel and while working there met her future husband Harvey Letson. They were united in marriage on August 22, 1936. They lived in St. Paul where they raised their family of seven children. In 1950 they moved to Clayton, Wisconsin where they purchased a dairy farm. Besides farming Harvey also worked out to help support the family. Harvey died in 1959 and Cecilia continued operation of the farm for a couple more years with the help of her family. She was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amery. All of her life she enjoyed gardening , reading and playing cards. Cecilia was a very good baker and made lots of cakes and fresh bread. She always valued her time with family and friends. She moved to rural Amery and worked at Super Valu grocery. She later got a job as a cook at the Amery Hospital where she continued working until retirement. She eventually moved to Water's Edge Apartments in Amery and for the past six years has lived at Golden Age Manor. Cecilia passed away at Golden Age on Wednesday morning, June 26, 2013 at the age of 96 years.
Her husband Harvey, her parents and her siblings: Fred Juran, Reginia Schmidt, Mary Gajewski, Rose Rykman, Bernard Juran and Trease Elboar all preceded her in death. Surviving family members include her son Harvey (Kathy) Letson; daughters: Marion Fox, Patricia Carlson, Janette Letson, Suzanne (Alan) Heyer, Judith (Cliff) Gaines and Nanette (Merlin) Fox. She also leaves 22 grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren, 21 great great grandchildren as well as other relatives and friends.


Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. from St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amery. There will be a visitation at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and for the hour prior to the service at the church. A private family interment will be at St. Ann's Cemetery in Turtle Lake, Wisconsin.
