Clarabell was born on March 7, 1931 in St. Paul, Minn., to proud parents Wilbur and Dora Winsor. She soon became the oldest of three, with sister Audrey and brother Richard joining their happy family.

She attended Central High School, and married U.S. Army Veteran Jerome Hingos on September 25, 1948. Their marriage centered around the kind of true love told only in fairy tales.

Jerome and Clarabell had two children, Cheryl and Leonard. They settled in the Como Park neighborhood of St. Paul. Evenings of laughter, friends and family, good food and good beer could be found many nights at their home - along with the twang of Clarabell's banjo as she played in the family band.

In 1951, the couple purchased land along the Apple River in Amery, Wis., building their cabin by hand from the floorboards up. They retired to their cabin in 1971 to enjoy the beauty of nature and later, time with their grandchildren.

Clarabell was known for her fiery red hair, leading her family and friends to affectionately nickname her "Rusty."

After Jerome's passing in 1982, Clarabell took great comfort in many activities, including the joining the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, attending St. Joseph's Catholic Church, and meeting a wonderful group of friends each morning for coffee. She was widely known as a great cook, an ice cream aficionado, a dedicated friend, and the best mother, grandmother and great-grandmother anyone could ask for. Her laughter was infectious and often.

Clarabell is preceded in death by her loving husband, Jerome; parents, Wilbur and Dora; sister Audrey and her husband Leo Hingos; brother Richard "Sonny" Winsor; and most recently, her daughter Cheryl Stratton.

She is survived by her son, Leonard Hingos and his wife Patty of Golden Valley, Minn.; grandson Stephen Hingos of Maple Grove, Minn.; granddaughter Dawn Player of Burnsville, Minn.; granddaughter Stacey Stratton and her husband John Ernste of Apple Valley, Minn.; granddaughter Lisa Stratton of Woodbury, Minn.; great-granddaughter Julia Player of Burnsville; great-granddaughter Tiffany Ernste of Apple Valley; many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amery. There will be visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 from 4 to 7 p.m. and for the hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Amery Cemetery.
