Obituary

Clarabelle Dorothy Wagner was born on April 17, 1917 in Joel, Polk County, Wisconsin to Frank and Effie (Secoy) Marlow. She grew up in the Joel area and attended Grandview Country School through the eighth grade. After completing school she lived at home and worked on the family farm with her parents. Clarabelle later married Raymond Ofelt and together they had two children, Chuck and Dixie. They later divorced and on June 23, 1953, Clarabelle married Fred Wagner and to this union two children, Patricia and Larry were born. The family made their home in the Turtle Lake area. After Fred passed away in 1986, she moved to an apartment in Turtle Lake where she lived for 27 years. For the past two and a half years she has been a resident at Pioneer Nursing Home in Prairie Farm, Wisconsin. She was known for her loving spirit and positive attitude. She had many sayings, but her favorite was… I'm a "tough" old bird. On January 22, 2012, Clarabelle passed away at the Mayo Clinic in Barron at the age of 94. She enjoyed collecting nick knacks and dolls, and loved to cook and bake, and was known to make the best pies. She also looked forward to going out on Wednesday nights for Wing Dings and she loved her cats dearly. In her younger years, Clarabelle loved to embroider, roller skate and dance, especially the waltz and polka at her favorite hangout the Richardson Pavilion. She had a very big heart, and loved all her family. Clarabelle was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, three brothers, her husband, Fred, son, Chuck Ofelt, daughter, Dixie Smith, four great grandsons and one great granddaughter. She is survived by her son, Larry Wagner and daughter, Patricia (Robert) Thompson, numerous grand, great grand, great, great grand and great, great, great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 from Faith Lutheran Church in Clayton, WI. A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers are Adam Wagner, Austin Wagner, Ryan Heffner, Bill Smith, Mark Sicard, Chuck Ofelt, Gary Clark, Jeremy Grosskreutz, Rob Debbout, Leroy Larson, Larry Wagner and Robert Thompson. Interment will be at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Turtle Lake.
