Cynthia Schalley was born on July 23, 1940 in Turtle Lake, Wisconsin the daughter of George and Christina (Zilke) Schalley. She was baptized at the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in rural Clayton, Wisconsin. She grew up on the family farm near Moon Lake and after graduating from high school she took courses at WITC for supervisor management. She worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in the twin cities for five years. She moved home to be able to help take care of her ailing father. She worked at Fabri-tek and also Jerome Foods. After the death of her father she moved to Clayton. Cindy enjoyed listening to music and playing cards. She also enjoyed spending time with her dog Tuffy. After suffering a heart attack in her 50's she was unable to work. As her health declined she was unable to stay at home alone she moved to Golden Age Manor in Amery. When she was able she participated in the activities provided there, always with the hope of returning home again. Cindy died at Golden Age Manor on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at the age of 71 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother George Jr. A private family interment, next to her parents, will be held at a later date.
