Dale Christave Groehler was born on August 10, 1920 in Turtle Lake, Wisconsin the son of Gustav and Grace (Wagner) Groehler. He grew up in the Turtle Lake area and graduated from high school. In October of 1942 he enlisted in the United States Army and served during World War II. He was proud to be a 12th Armored Division HellCat. Dale was discharged in January of 1946. In June of that year he was married to Marion B. Pierce and to this union four children were born. He loved gardening and as a young man raised large gardens, as he got older the gardens got smaller, but even this last year he raised tomatoes and lettuce for his sandwiches. He enjoyed flowers almost as much as Marion, and always had a row of something in his garden. Dale was an avid bird watcher and loved caring for them. He had feeders and houses all over his yard. When his children were grown he and Marion enjoyed traveling in their little camper, usually taking their pet bird "Henry" with them. Even though he enjoyed all these things, family was the most important to him. He loved his family and missed Marion very much. He took pleasure in watching the activities and accomplishments of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They will all miss him very much and they know they now have two angels watching over them. He still had his home in rural Clear Lake, Wisconsin, but was spending the winter with his daughter in Bloomer, Wisconsin. He died at her home on Saturday December 25, 2010 at the age of 90 years.
Besides his wife Marion his parents, brothers Jake and Verle, and sister Freida Magler all preceded him in death. Left to mourn are his children: Juanita Fransway, Linda Hugdahl, Dale Groehler Jr. and Kevin (Debra) Groehler. He also leaves a sister Marlys Balow, 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren as well as other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2010 from the Williamson-White Funeral Home in Amery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 29 from 4 to 7 p.m. and for the hour prior to the service.
