David Alan Andersen, of Amery, Wisconsin passed away on Monday, August 8th, 2016.

David was born on September 29th, 1954 in Morris, Minnesota to Roger and Erla (Sperr) Andersen. He grew up in Cottage Grove, Minnesota with both of his parents and his sister Debra. David spent his summers and most holidays in Herman, Minnesota working on his family farm. It was there he learned his work ethic.

David graduated from St. Paul Park, Minnesota in 1972 and originally planned on continuing his education at Normandale Community College. However, his Uncle Dale who was like a brother to him, passed away from cancer so David moved full time to the farm to help out the family.

David enrolled in carpentry classes at Alexandria Technical College. He pursued his career by working carpentry jobs and helping his college instructors. It was also here that David met Karleen Lueth at Alexandria Tech and later married her in July of 1975. They went on to have five children. They later divorced in 1987.

David met Patti Rust in the spring of 1989 and later married her in April of 1990. They lived in Amery, Wisconsin for the entirety of their marriage. David started Lake Country Builders in 1991 and continued his business up to his death.

David embodied the true meaning of an outdoors man. He loved hunting and fishing and when he wasn't working this is how he spent his time with his two boys. In his 20 years of professional walleye fishing he was a fierce competitor and highly respected by his fellow anglers. Some of his fishing career highlights include: 1996 NAWA Rookie of the Year, 2005 PWT Champion, and many other top finishes.

David was preceded in death by his mother Erla, father Roger, sister Debra. He is survived by his wife Patti Andersen, sons Adam(Danielle)Andersen, Kent(Beth)Andersen of Amery, Wisconsin, daughters Beth Andersen of Richmond Hill, Georgia, Lana(James)Combs of Westminster, Colorado and Etta Andersen of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, grandchildren Lane and Hayden Andersen of Amery, Wisconsin, Jacob Andersen of Amery, Wisconsin, and Jackson and Ireland Combs of Westminster, Colorado.

Funeral services will be at 11 am Monday, August 15, 2016 from First Lutheran Church, 240 Elm Street West, Amery, Wisconsin. There will be a visitation for David on Sunday from 5 to 8 pm at the Williamson ~ White Funeral Home, 222 Harriman Avenue North, Amery, WI as well as the hour prior to services at the church. Interment will take place at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in rural Amery.
