Obituary

David Adam Rau, 63, of Amery, WI died March 17, 2011 at Golden Age Manor after a recurrence of cancer. Born October 15, 1947 in Mobridge, South Dakota, he was the son of Minnie Rau and the late Howard Rau. He was a loving son, brother, father and grandfather. After retiring from Polaris in 2007 he was an active volunteer at The Congregational Church (United Church of Christ) in Amery, loved to bird watch and spend time with his family and friends. Known for his helpful spirit, friendly smile and cowboy hat, he was loved by folks wherever he went.

He is survived by his sons; Lynn Rau and wife Martha of Maryland, Daniel Rau and wife Laura of Wisconsin, and John Rau of South Dakota; his mother, Minnie Rau; his siblings, Skip Rau, Julie Smith, and Cathy Voeltz; his grandchildren, Jade Rau, Lilly Rau, Braidon Rau, Kathryn Rau, Holly Rau, and Noelle Rau and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father and brother Dale.

There will be a visitation held at the Williamson-White Funeral Home in Amery from 4 to 7 PM on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 with a prayer service following at 7:00 PM. A second viewing will be held on Thursday, March 24th at the United Church of Christ in Selby, SD from 9:30 to 11:00 AM followed by a memorial service. Internment at the Selby Memorial Gardens Cemetery will be followed by lunch at the Church. Memorial Contributions may be made to The Congregational Church in Amery or the United Church of Christ in Selby, SD.
