Delmer LaVerne Olufson was born on April 25, 1933 in St. Paul, Minnesota the son of Elmer and Myrtle (Bergseng) Olufson. He grew up in the Amery area and after finishing school we worked as a milk hauler for area farmers. He later was a truck driver for Indianhead Transport. In 1973 he took over the operation of the family farm in rural Amery. On November 20, 1987 he was united in marriage to Sandra Dusek in Las Vegas, Nevada. They kept the farm in rural Amery as a second home until selling it in 1991. Delmer then went to work for Wayne's Transport. He worked for them off and on until 2009 when he retired. In the fall of that year he and Sandra moved to rural Danbury, Wisconsin. He enjoyed watching the wildlife that passed by his home and stopped to eat a bit in his yard. During his lifetime Delmer enjoyed hunting and fishing as time permitted and also played golf. He liked a good game of cards as well. When he was able he was a member of the Webster Snowmobile Club. The past ten months Delmer has battled cancer and he died at his home in rural Danbury on Friday morning, August 23, 2013 at the age of 80 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving family include his wife Sandra, sons: Loren (Tracy) Dusek and Brent (Heidi) Dusek, six grandchildren, Brother Donald Olufson as well as other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Amery. Burial will follow at the Amery Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation for the hour prior to the service at the church.
