Dennis John Whitcomb, age 72 of Amery, Wisconsin, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Born November 1, 1943 in St. Paul, Minnesota, he served three years in the U S Army followed by a few brief jobs before purchasing a Texaco service station. Following this, Dennis purchased a bulk milk hauling business which he operated for over twenty years. He was a man of few words who instead lead by example, including his hard work ethic and taking care of his own. His family always came first and he was especially proud of his children and grandchildren.
Dennis was naturally mechanically inclined, having owned, maintained and enjoyed many, many automobiles, motorcycles, snowmobiles, tractors and boats over the years, starting with his first moped long before he had a driver's license. He was always proud of his high cylinder index. A special love of his was time spent on the St Croix River.
Preceded in death by parents Lorraine Whitcomb and John (Jack) Whitcomb. Survived by wife Jackie, children Denise (Marc) Anderson, Joel (Martha) Whitcomb, Angelic Kelly, Peter (Holly)Whitcomb and nine grandchildren. Dennis is also survived by siblings Marland (Barb) Whitcomb, Bonnie (Greg) Lescarbeau, Albert (Donna) Whitcomb, Debbie (Tom) Ganas, John (Karen) Whitcomb, Sandy (Mark) Schoess and Brad Whitcomb.
In lieu of flowers memorials suggested to The American Cancer Society or St Jude's Children's Hospital.
