Obituary

Donald Carl Bruckner died Thursday, August 12, just after midnight, at Golden Age Manor. Donald was born March 27, 1925, in Los Angles, California, to Rose and Coobie Bruckner. He joined his older sister, Mardge.
Donald served our country in the Army during World War II working in communications.
On October 30, 1949, Donald married his wife of sixty years, Catherine Sokasits. They were both working at the telephone company at the time. He retired from Ma Bell after thirty five years as a dispatcher.
In 1989 Don and Kay moved from Gardena, California to Amery to be closer to their son Tim, his wife Mary, and their first grandchild, Errol. Their second grandchild, Anne, followed a couple years later. He often commented that Amery felt like home.
Don's eyes twinkled with humor and mischief. He always had a kind word, a warm greeting, or a funny remark for friends and strangers alike.
Don is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Catherine, his son Tim, and daughter-in-law, Mary, his grandchildren Errol and Anne; sister Mardge Arnold and other relatives and friends. He will be greatly missed by all.
Mass of Christian burial for Don will be Tuesday, August 17, at 11:00 a.m., from St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amery. The Very Reverend John Drummy and Deacon Bud Heiser will officiate. Music will be provided by the St. Joseph choir, and Arlene Dado will be the organist. Visitation for Don will be Monday, August 16, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home and for the hour prior to the service at the church.
