Donald LeRoy Olson was born at home on the family farm in Alden Township, Polk County, Wisconsin on June 4, 1920. He was the son of Charles and Freda (Sandstrom) Olson. He grew up in Alden Township and attended rural school. He and his brother Eddie formed a farming partnership which lasted for many years. Both he and Eddie were voted Farmer of the Year and served as Parade Marshall for the annual Little Falls Parade. They were strong supporters of education and have sponsored scholarships for Amery High School students for the past 27 years. He was a long time member of East Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Amery and spent many hours volunteering care at the cemetery. Donald enjoyed the outdoors, especially cutting wood and deer hunting. He was also a member of Sons of Norway. Even after Eddie's death Donald continued living at the farm and cutting his own fire wood. The past couple years he has lived at Riverbend Assisted Living in Amery where he passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the age of 95. Special thanks to Riverbend and it's caregivers for the exceptional care.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Eddie Olson; sister Marion Olson; step brothers: Lester, Vern, Clarence, Howard and Ralph Giese; and step-mother Emma Giese. Surviving family members include his cousins: Jean Aus, Jackie Emerson and Gloria Storm; step-brother Alvin Giese; special friends Bob, Marlene, Brandon and Amy Johnson as many friends and neighbors.


Funeral services will be Friday, January 22, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at East Immanuel Lutheran Church with visitation the hour before the service at the church. Burial will be at the East Immanuel Cemetery
