Obituary

Donna was born April 14, 1932 in Edina, MN, the daughter of Daniel and Etta (Kennicutt) Ives. Her parents bought a farm near Volga where she attended school until moving into Amery in the sixth grade, later graduating from Amery High School. At AHS, Donna took many baton twirling championships and remains in the "Who's Who in Baton Twirling". After high school, Donna assisted her parents in operating the "Rolling Hills Resort" near Mille Lacs Lake, MN. In 1950, she married Kenneth Luhman and they made their home in Deer Park, Wisconsin. Two children were born, Steven and Kathleen. We remember Donna as the play-by-play announcer for many softball games and tournaments in Deer Park and surrounding towns. Donna was also employed at two Clear Lake businesses and one near Deer Park and in her spare time enjoyed creating a lot of handiwork. In 1995, Donna moved to Forest Lake, MN and enjoyed many years of travel including the southwest, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, Lake Tahoe, Niagara Falls and the East Coast. In 2001, Donna moved back to Amery where she has lived in her apartment overlooking South Twin Lake. She is preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Etta Ives and four sisters, Elvera Ahlberg, Maxine Wilson, Claire Bland and Jean Holgate. She is survived by her son Steven Luhman, daughter Kathleen (Joe) Tschida, grandsons Michael Luhman and Daniel (Kate) Tschida, dear friend Phyllis Luhman, along with nieces, nephews and many friends. As many of you know, Donna loved good food and mealtime. In respect of her wishes, all memorials to the family will be donated to local Amery food charities and pantries.
A Celebration of Donna's life will be held from 2 to 5 pm on Saturday, February 27, 2016, at The Williamson ~White Funeral Home in Amery, Wisconsin.
