Duane Howard Luehman, age 90, passed away surrounded by loved ones on September 5, 2024 in St. Paul, MN. He was born in New Richmond, WI on March 8, 1934. He married the love of his life, Marlene Gorres, on May 29, 1954 in Amery, WI. They had two children, Melissa and Mark. He was preceded in death by his parents, Florence and Werner; brother, Orvin (Ruby); and great-granddaughter, Isabella Adney.
Duane was an avid bowler and golfer, even into his later years. He was such a diehard Packers fan that he couldn't watch the games live because he would get too excited. He was President and a proud red-coat member of the Amery Community Club, always working hard to promote Amery. He was also President of the Pondhurst HOA and the Amery Golf Club. Duane toured the Amery-area often in his yellow Packer-decal covered pick-up truck, shaking hands and visiting with all he knew—which was almost everyone.
He grew up playing any sport he could and had a particular fondness for baseball. He enjoyed telling stories of his days playing in Wagon Landing. His family still wonders if some of them are true.
Duane loved his family and friends dearly. He instilled in his children and grandchildren a love for competition, the importance of a sense of humor, and the proper usage of the phrase 'uff-da.' When he wasn't selling furniture or enjoying brandy-manhattans, he was taking his grandchildren on long car trips to historical attractions like the Badlands, NFL Hall of Fame, and Wisconsin's holiest site—Lambeau Field. He was frequently in attendance at his children and grandchildren's sporting events, much to the dismay of the opposing team, umpires and referees.
Duane will be sorely missed by his family and friends. His deep laugh, sharp wit and generous spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Marlene; children, Melissa (Bob) Adney and Mark (Cindy); sister, Diane Lindemann; brother, Keith (Beckie); 8 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren
