Edith Mary Monson was born at home in Clear Lake, WI on January 19, 1932; one of six children born to Arvid and Mary Monson. She attended school in Clear Lake and graduated from High School in 1950. Her four years of college were spent at the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater where she graduated in 1954 with a bachelor's degree in education. She met David Paulson on a blind date arranged by his sister-in-law on November 8th, 1956 and they married on August 3, 1957. Edith taught business education classes for the Clayton School District and the Amery school district and Dave owned a small trucking business. Their daughter Linnae was born in 1960 and a year later the couple moved their family to rural Amery to a 130 acre dairy farm on the Apple River. In 1963 their son, Eric was born.
Edith retired in June 1994 after 31 years of service to the Amery School District. During her time in education she was also active as a faculty advisor for student organizations and an officer in the F.F.A. (Foreign student exchange) organization. She has been very active in the life of the East Immanuel Lutheran Church over her 54 years as a member. She has taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, acted as Sunday School Superintendent for many years, taught adult Bible study, sang in the choir and served in all capacities of the Women's Organization. Edith and Dave were members of the Republican Party at the State and local level. Edith enjoyed spending time together with family and friends, quilting at church, springtime maple syrup making and hosting many years of Saturday morning pancake breakfasts for family and friends. The Paulson's put many miles on their conversion van as they "picnicked" their way across the United States traveling to Dave's U.S. Navy Ship reunions and visiting family and friends.
Through her 40 years of teaching business education classes and as many years as a Sunday school teacher she has influenced many. She wanted nothing more than for everyone to have a personal relationship with Jesus and to accept His gift of forgiveness of sins and salvation through His blood. "Her arms have reached distant places and His arms have welcomed her home."
Dave and Edith had been married for over 57 years at the time of his death in 2015 and have two children, 8 grandchildren, five great grandsons and one granddaughter with great grandchildren number 7 due in August. Edith was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Veldon, Harvey and Alger. Edith is survived by her daughter Linnae (Glenn) Seaman of Amery; Son Eric (Terri) Paulson of Amery; grandchildren Tara (Jesse) Weiss of Durand, Wi; Kristy Paulson of Eau Claire, Wi; Eric Seaman of Lake Mills, Wi.; Addie (Ash) Holzmann of Parkton, NC; Adam (Rikki) Seaman of Osceola; Preston Paulson of Bellingham, Wi; and Gabriel Paulson of Minneapolis and Bennett of Amery; and great grandsons David and Owen Holzmann; and Jaxson, Eli and Silas Weiss; and great granddaughter Hailey Seaman. Edith also leaves a brother Walter (Della) Monson and sister Helen Netta (Svend) Jensen to mourn as well as brothers and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 13, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at East Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Amery. There will be visitation at the Williamson ~ White Funeral Home in Amery, WI on Thursday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and also one hour prior to the funeral service at the Church.
