Obituary

Elden John Walter Spencer, age 91 of Amery, WI passed away on Friday, May 6, 2016 at Willow Ridge Health Care in Amery. He was born on November 26, 1924 in Dickinson County, Iowa to James and Verna (Schnell) Spencer. Elden grew up in and attended school in Terril, Iowa. At the age of 15, he went to work on his Uncle John's farm as a share cropper. On April 29, 1950 Elden was united in marriage to Mary Lou Thomas. The couple moved to Emerald, Wisconsin on December 17, 1957 where they farmed near Emerald until retiring from farming in the mid 1980's. After retiring, the couple made their home in Deer Park, WI where Elden took a job at Thompson machine. Elden was a member of the Lions Club and President of the Village of Deer Park. He enjoyed horse shoes, bowling, and fishing, and in his later years spent time delivering meals to shut ins through Meals on Wheels. Elden was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sons, Dennis Spencer and Michael (Shirley) LeDuc; daughters, Linda Spencer and Deanna (Marty) Carpenter, as well as 18 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at the Calvary Cemetery in Deer Park. To sign an online guest book, visit www.williamsonwhite.com.
