Elsa Suckut, age 83, of Amery, passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Elsa was born on November 7, 1931 to Fredrick and Emma Dickhaut in Neu Munchen/Ukraine. In her younger days she attended cooking classes in Germany. She was active in her church and sang in the church choir. She also helped care for her siblings. She was fluent in Russian, German and English. She met Herbert Suckut at a prayer meeting and told her friends that he was the man she was going to marry. On February 25, 1950 she married Herbert. They lived in Dakendorf, Germany where their first daughter was born. They had 2 more children in Dortmund, Germany. She ventured to America with her family and lived in South Saint Paul and later moved to Deer Park, WI where she was a homemaker, helped farm and had 6 more children. She was always busy with children, farming, cooking, baking, canning, knitting, crouching, embroidery, gardening and sewing. She also loved flowers and birds. While living in Deer Park she and her family attended East Immanuel Church. Elsa was active in 4H and WI extension Homemakers Council, and later in life she cared for some of her grandchildren. She then tended to her husband in his last years while living in Amery. After her husband passed she loved reading, puzzles, TV, crocheting, knitting and listening to music.

Elsa is survived by children, Lilli (Jeff) Brown, Doris Suckut (Mike Ziegler), Peter (Kristal) Suckut, Sally Suckut, Rolf (Carol) Suckut, Lorri (Brian) Pedersen, Paul (Rhonda) Suckut, Marie Bohannon (Mike Rheingans), Mona (Arlen) Ziegler, David Suckut (Veronica Jenkins), 25 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren and one on the way; sisters and brothers, Fredrick (Jeanie) Dickhaut, Maria (Peter) Wogh, Lydia Dickhaut (Wayne), Barbara (Stanley) Brojakowski and Edward Dickhaut; Many nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, 2 grandchildren and her husband Herbert.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, August 21, 2015 at Balsam Lutheran Church in Rural Amery with Pastor Matt Saarem officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM Thursday at the Williamson~White Funeral Home in Amery, WI. Burial will be at the Balsam Lutheran Church Cemetery in Rural Amery.
