Emily M. Bodenner was born on February 13, 1924 in Trego, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of Thomas and Mabel Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed at the Trego Congregational Church. Growing up she attended the Trego Elementary School, but attended the Spooner High School graduating in 1942. She and her sister would go to Chicago and work to earn money to do some traveling. During the winter months they would be home and help on the family farm. On October 21, 1951 she was united in marriage to Frank Bodenner and together they had five children. They made their home in rural Amery. Emily became a member of the East Lincoln Alliance Church where she was very active. She started teaching Sunday School as a 14 year old in Trego and continued at East Lincoln until she was in her 70's. Church and family were always the important things in life. They had several foster children over the years and always had an open door to someone needing a place to stay. Home cooked meals and fresh baked goods were the norm. Emily always strived to make their house a "home". With family scattered around the globe they were able to travel, often to visit family. Emily has battled declining health, but with the help of family and hospice she was able to remain at home where she passed away on Monday, July 2, 2012 at the age of 88 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Phyllis Johnson and brother Thomas Johnson. Left to mourn are her husband Frank; son Tom (Lori) Bodenner;
