Eugene Warren Bittrich was born on August 7, 1934 in St. Paul, Minnesota the son of Roland and Mary (Janowitz) Bittrich. He grew up in the twin cities and after completing high school he went to school to be a tool and die maker. On September 30, 1967 he was united in marriage to Marilyn Hill, and together they operated the Bahrs Motel in Deer River, Minnesota. After Marilyn's death in 1997 he continued to operate the motel. He sold the motel and moved to Remer, Minnesota where he spent his retirement years. During his lifetime he enjoyed snowmobiling, motor cycling and sports cars as well as spending time at his land near Remer. As he started to experience a decline in his health he moved to Amery to live with his granddaughter Dawn Wulf. In December of 2014 he moved to Golden Age Manor and was residing there at the time of his death on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at the age of 81 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn, son Thomas Wagner and his parents Roland and Mary. Left to mourn are his grandson Robert Wagner, granddaughter Dawn (Michael) Wulf, great grandchildren Taneisha, Sophia, Alissa and Brice as well as other relatives and friends.
