Obituary

Eunice Elizabeth Johnson was born the daughter of Alvin and Elizabeth (Biederman) Dahlberg on May 7, 1921 in Frederic, Wisconsin. She was Baptized on June 18, 1921 at Zion Lutheran Church in Trade Lake, Wisconsin and later Confirmed at Fristad Lutheran Church in Centuria, Wisconsin. She graduated from Balsam Lake High School in 1938. Eunice was employed at the Federal Land Bank in Balsam Lake, Wisconsin until November 1944. On July 8, 1944 she was united in marriage to Joseph Donald Johnson at Faith Lutheran Church in Balsam Lake, Wisconsin and together they had four children. For a short time after their marriage she worked for the United States Navy in Norfolk, VA. She was then employed in the Polk County Superintendent of Schools office until they moved to rural Amery, Wisconsin in 1947. She worked in bookkeeping for Amery Farmer's Union and then the Amery Free Press until retirement. After moving to Amery she became a member of First Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, was a member of the choir, belonged to the Concordia Society and Sarah Circle, served on the altar committee, was active in Velcommen Club and ELCW, and played handbells. She enjoyed having flower gardens around her home. Eunice was known for giving hugs and receiving them. Time with family was always important to her. Declining health led to Eunice living at Willow Ridge Healthcare where she died on Monday, June 22, 2015 at the age of 94 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband J. Donald Johnson; step-father Lloyd Anderson; brother Gordon Dahlberg and an infant sister Arlene. Surviving family members include her children: Collin (Kirsten) Johnson, Douglas (Barbara) Johnson, Gwen (Steve) Wold and Jill (Gregg) Olson; ten grandchildren: Ross (Lara) Johnson, Claire Johnson, Megan Johnson, Emily (Mark) Pratten, Kyle (Julie) Wold, Kip (Abby) Wold, Jordan Wold, Brooke (David) Turner, Kelly (Preston) Looman and Luke (Candy) Olson; ten great grandchildren: Gabby, Taylor, Lauren, Alex, Casey, Mason, Grant, Easton, Emmett and Jalen. She also leaves other relatives and friends.


Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 29, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Amery. There will be visitation at the funeral home on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. and for the hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Amery Cemetery.
