Fern Victoria Bottolfson was born on November 27, 1920 in Polk County, Wisconsin the daughter of Meier and Olga (Dedrickson) Ness. She grew up in rural Amery and was Baptized and Confirmed at the Little Falls Lutheran Church. On November 12, 1938 she was united in marriage to Carney Edward Bottolfson and to this union four children were born. They farmed together in Alden Township until 1972 when they moved to Amery. Fern was a member of the Little Falls Lutheran Church and active in its Ladies Aid. She also enjoyed crocheting, dancing, bowling, playing 500 and Yatzee. She was also a piano player, playing by ear. During her lifetime she held several jobs including working at Fabri-tek, the Amery Bakery, Doboy Plastics and the Amery Schools. Most of all, Fern loved doing things with family. After Carney's death she continued living in her home, but for the past three years has been a resident of the United Pioneer Home in Luck, Wisconsin where she was active in all the activities that happened there. Fern passed away on Saturday morning, October 3, 2015 at the United Pioneer Home at the age of 94 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Carney , siblings: Jessie, Dedrick, Chester, Ellen, Pearl, Millie and Ida, and one great grandson Bennett. Surviving family members include her son Marlyn (Nancy) Bottolfson, daughters: Judy (Jerry) Winchell, Faye (Jim) Haugerud and Carla (John) Olson; 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren as well as other relatives and friends.


Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. from Little Falls Lutheran Church in rural Amery. There will be visitation at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and for the hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Little Falls Cemetery.
