On June 3, 2017, Florence P. Jurisch (93 years) turned off her sewing machine for the last time. She was born on February 2, 1924 at the Julius Knoll farm in rural Deer Park to Sabena (nee Knoll) and Stanley Washington Fouks. She attended school at Woodland (Forest Township) then at Clear Lake, graduating in 1941. On Flagday, June 14, 1946, Florence married Gene Marshall Jurisch at St. John Lutheran Church in Forest where she had a valued life-long membership. In 1951, they purchased a 160 acre farm in Forest Township and farmed until 1954 shortly after their barn burned. Together they raised eight children who provided 25 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. She lived her life by example and instilled a deep and abiding faith within her family. Florence held various jobs including cooking for Hahn's Truck Stop and Wayne's Café. She worked at Golden Age Manor in housekeeping then as a nurse's aide from 1966 until her retirement in 1987. The coffee pot was always ready for a visit with friends and family. Florence enjoyed gardening, fishing, travelling, cake decorating and playing cards. She was probably most known for her quilting. She made approximately 50 quilts providing a quilt for each of her children's anniversary/wedding, each grandchild's graduation and many for church (for World Relief). She was preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, brother Herbert Fouks and his wife, Sharon; sister in law Lila Fouks, brother in law Alan Broberg and niece Shelley Fouks. She is survived by her children, Roland (Karen) Jurisch of Chico, CA; Ronald (Linda) Jurisch of Clear Lake, WI; Donald Jurisch of Richmond Hill, Georgia; David (Joyce) Jurisch of Clear Lake, WI; Carol (Bruce) Dale of Owatonna, MN; Carl (Brenda) Jurisch of New Richmond, WI; Dean (Connie) Jurisch of Athens, WI and Melissa (Thomas) Hubing of Stratford, WI; 25 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren; brothers Francis (Yvonne) Fouks and Stanley (Charollette) Fouks and sister Mildred Broberg as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will take place at 11 am on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at St. John Lutheran Church in Forest with Pastor John Wilman officiating. A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 pm on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at the Williamson-White Funeral Home in Amery, as well as for the hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at the church cemetery.
