Frederic Albert Norlund was born in Amery, Wisconsin on August 29, 1941 the son of Albert and Marie "Happy" (Gabrielson) Norlund. He grew up in Apple River Township and attended the Blake School. He went to attend high school at Milltown. For his senior year he went to the new Unity High School graduating in 1959 with its first class. He entered the United States Navy on May 23, 1959; where he served as a machinists mate and was honorably discharged in August of 1962. After his discharge he briefly lived in Florida where he married before returning to Apple River. To this union there were three children. He was an over the road trucker, and worked at Fabri-tek, McNally's, Emtech and most recently Securitas. In 1983 he was united in marriage to Janis Lauritsen and together they had three children. He enjoyed trapping and fishing , making many trips to Canada with friends and family. Riding motorcycles was a favorite past time, as was enjoyed car racing. He drove on the small tracks in the area: Cedar Lake, Centuria and Rice Lake. He also spent time doing ice racing with cars and snowmobiles. Fred was rushed to Region's Hospital with several health complications where he passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at the age of 71.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers John and Larry. Left to mourn are his wife Janis; children: Kenny (Jenny) Norlund, Linda Norlund, Gwen (Ross) Anderson, Travis (Alissa) Norlund, Nicki Norlund (Charlie Otto), and Britta Norlund; sister Jean (Mick) Ebert; sisters-in-law Kathy Norlund and Renee Norlund; 12 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren as well as other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, November 8 at 3:00 p.m. at the Georgetown Lutheran Church in rural Balsam Lake, Wisconsin. There will be a visitation time for two hours prior to the service.
