Frederic Raymond Ubbelohde passed away in Hudson, Wisconsin on June 1, 2015. Fred, or "Chick" to many friends and relatives, was 93 years old. His wife Bonnie Jean had passed away June 9, 2004. Fred has one surviving sibling, Donald of Colfax, Wisconsin. He is preceded in death by older brother Kenneth and parents Esther and Frederic Raymond Ubbelohde to whom Fred was born on August 16, 1921 in Star Prairie, Wisconsin. The family subsequently moved to New Richmond, Wisconsin where Fred graduated from New Richmond High School in 1939. Fred attended college at River Falls, graduating in 1947 after interruption to serve in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946 when Fred served as an officer on an LST in the Pacific theater. Upon returning home to resume college, he married Bonnie Jean on August 29, 1946 and started their family together. They had 59 years together. The children are Jon (Kristine) of Red Wing, Minnesota, Michael (Julie) of Spooner, Wisconsin, Elizabeth ( Joe Erickson) of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Sara Jane Craig (Doug) of White Bear lake, Minnesota and Robert (Miriam) of Waterloo, Illinois as well as nine grand-children .
Fred's entire professional life was dedicated to service in public education, first as a teacher and coach and then as a high school principal. Fred taught and coached football, basketball and baseball at Centuria, Wisconsin, Clayton, Wisconsin and Milltown, Wisconsin respectively through 1957 when Milltown, Balsam Lake and Centuria merged to form Unity High School where he continued to coach football until 1961. Fred was the first principal at Unity High School until his retirement in 1983. Fred served as conference secretary for the Upper St Croix Valley Athletic Conference for many years until it was dissolved in 1994. He served on the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Board of Control from 1974 to 1980 and as president of the board from 1979 to 1980.
In his personal life Fred's family was first. Along with his wife he taught his kids right from wrong and how to grow into caring and loving parents. He spent valuable time with them on countless camping weekends and holidays. Vacations were spent in a tent or camper. He took them hunting and fishing. Fall weekends were spent up north at the deer shack and later in a real cabin shooting at "partridge" and deer. He followed each of his kids as she or he played sports, resulting in many, many hours logged on bleachers quietly being proud of his kids. Fred will be missed by family and friends. Fred's family would like to thank the staff at Wintergreen Apartments and Pine Ridge Assisted Living in Hudson for their care of Fred during the last years of his life.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 30 at Milltown Lutheran Church in Milltown, Wisconsin. There will be a visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and for the hour prior to the service at the church. Internment services will follow at the Northern Wisconsin Veteran's Cemetery near Spooner, Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
