Gene L. Anderson passed away at his home in rural Clayton on Monday, October 31, 2016 at the age of 87. Gene was born the son of Hjalmer and Mabel (Lewis) Anderson on December 18, 1928. He was born at home in Clear Lake, Wisconsin. After graduating from the Clear Lake High School Gene went to work for Stella Cheese in Clayton, Wisconsin. In 1951 he entered the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He was discharged from active duty in 1952, but remained in the reserves until 1956. On August 8, 1953 he was united in marriage to Betty Hayle. They made their home in the Clayton area and in 1959 moved to the home on 20th street near Lake Magnor. Gene enjoyed the outdoors. He spent time gardening, fishing, camping and snowmobiling. He especially liked his time at the hunting shack, first with friends for a number of years in Hayward and more recently with his family at the shack near Gordon, Wisconsin. Gene was an avid Twins and Packers fan.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty, sister Muriel Wickboldt, and brothers James, Gaylord and Kenneth. Surviving family members include his three sons: Rod (Cathy) Anderson, Rick (Paula) Anderson and Randy (Debbie) Anderson; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren as well as other relatives and friends.


Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. from Faith Lutheran Church in Clayton, Wisconsin. There will be visitation at the Williamson-White Funeral Home on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. and for the hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Marsh Lake Cemetery in rural Clayton.
