George W. Thompson, age 90 of Rural Amery, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2015 at the Reedsburg Area Medical Center.
George was born on February 22, 1925 to Vernon and Clara (Knutson) Thompson in St. Paul, Minnesota. He attended Harding High School. After High School he entered the United States Navy where he was Honorably discharged in March of 1946. George was an active member of Balsam Lutheran Church where he sung in the choir, taught Sunday School and started Puppet Ministry. He enjoyed going to the cabin, camping, spending time with grandkids, watching TV especially Viking games.
George is survived by his loving wife, Joyce; 2 sons, Scott (Edna) Thompson and Steven L. Thompson; Grandsons, Eric Thompson, Kyle Thompson, Dominic Miller, Lucus Miller; grand-daughter, Jaime Larson; a brother-in-law, Ronald Blaisdell; sisters-in-law Vivian Braby, Linda Sagerer, Arlene, Connie and Mary Blaisdell; 9 great- grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, Todd Alan; brothers-in-law, Dougal, Duane and Alvin Blaisdell and a sister-in-law, Sharon Larson.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Balsam Lutheran Church in rural Amery with Pastor Matt Saarem officiating. Burial will be at the Balsam Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday at the Williamson~White Funeral Home, 222 Harriman Avenue North Amery, WI.
