Obituary

Glendon Gummert, age 82 died March 5, 2014 at Amery Regional Medical Center in Amery, WI. Glen was born in Mizpah, MN on March 4, 1932. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Minnie (Peterson) Gummert, brother, Alan Gummert, sister, Marlene Emerson and his beloved wife, Delores (Bryant) Gummert. He is survived by his stepsons, Steve (Lynette) Bryant of Amery, Greg (Betty) Bryant of Twin Falls, Idaho, Bruce Bryant, Amarillo, TX; eight grandchildren; many cousins, nephews and nieces.
Glen and Delores lived in Maple Plain, MN for many years before moving to Amery, Wisconsin in 2011. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from the US Postal Service. Glen and Delores enjoyed many years of traveling throughout North America and Europe. They visited every state in the United States, every province in Canada and a substantial portion of Europe. Many winters were spent at their "casa" in San Felipe Mexico. He was proud of his Norwegian heritage, visiting and maintaining contact with his cousins there.
Glen was raised in a remote part of northern Minnesota and became a skilled outdoorsman and loved to share his experiences and knowledge with others. He enjoyed returning to his hometown of Mizpah to roam the woods and visit old friends.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Williamson White Funeral Home, 222 Harriman Ave. N., Amery, WI. There will be a time of visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota that afternoon at 2:30 p.m. meeting at assembly area number 2.
