Gordon Francis Anderson was born on June 21,1939 in River Falls, WIsconsin, the son of Donald and Florence (Kelley) Anderson. He lost his mom at a very young age and was raised by his father and his stepmother, Laura Anderson. He spent his early years in Boardman and New Richmond area. As a young man, he held several jobs including working on neighboring farms. He also worked for many years at 7-Up Bottling Company in Somerset. Eventually, he found his calling as a cook. He was employed in many area restaurants over the years and always felt lucky to have work he loved. Even when he wasn't on the clock, he could often be found in the kitchen, whipping up an omelette or some french toast. Gordy was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He participated in many fundraising and community activities on behalf of the Church and the K of C. He was an avid bowler and bowled for a couple of teams at Club 53 in Amery. Living in Wisconsin, he also enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends and family. Gordy was a devoted father and dedicated husband, who recently celebrated his Golden Wedding Anniversary with his wife, Linda. As his health declined, Gordy moved to Willow Ridge Healthcare in Amery. He passed away on Friday morning, January 24, 2014 at the Amery Regional Medical Center at the age of 74 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Rochelle. He is survived by his wife Linda; son Joe; daughter Michelle (Patrick) Cavender; grandson, Sam; brothers Donald, Stewart, Stanley and Douglas; sisters Edna and Sandra, as well as other relatives and many friends.

Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Monday, February 10, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amery. There will be a time of visitation the hour before the service at the church. Private family interment will be at the Shiloh Cemetery near Amery.
