Obituary

Gordon McKay Hoisington was born on March 12, 1944 in Amery, Wisconsin the son of William and Myrtle (Lien) Hoisington. He was united in marriage to Judy Bowers on January 9, 1960 and to this union four children were born. In 1968 he and Judy opened their home to her five siblings after the loss of their mother. Gordie was an over the road trucker most of his life, but also spent time driving the shuttle bus for St. Croix Casino in Turtle Lake. He also spent several years driving school bus for the Amery School District. His most recent job was driving semi for Cardinal Glass in Amery, where he was forced to retire due to dementia. Gordie enjoyed fishing and hunting with his boys and was an avid Packer fan! He passed away at Willow Ridge Healthcare in Amery on Monday, December 3, 2012 at the age of 68 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Gene, Doug, Bob and Dale; sister Joanne Olson and brother-in-law John Bowers. Left to mourn are his wife Judy of Amery; sons: Greg (Betty) of Osceola, Gary (Kathy) of Turtle Lake, Jim (Laura) of Cumberland; daughter Dawn (David) Lundgren of Amery; 12 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brothers: Frank (Lois) of Amery, Don (Helen) of Florida; sisters: Carol (Donnie) Bengston of Centuria Pat (John) Hambley of Turtle Lake; brothers-in-law Fred (Nora) Bowers of Cedar, MN, Jeff (Joan) Bowers of Ramsey, MN and Mike (Saundra) Bowers of Milltown; sister-in-law Mary (Tom) Haffer of Crane, OR, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held at the Apple River Community Church in rural Amery on Monday, December 10 at 1:00 p.m. There will be a time of visitation for two hours prior to the service. Interment will be at the Free Mission Cemetery.
