Gordon Victor Jacobson, age 89, of Amery, WI passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at the Amery Regional Medical Center.
Gordon was born on November 30, 1925 to Victor and Aurora (Johnson) Jacobson in Moose Lake, Minnesota. After graduating from Moose Lake High School in 1944 he enlisted in the United States Navy where he was aboard the USS Hyde in World War II. He was later honorably discharged. On September 15, 1946 he married Shirley Belle Irene in Moose Lake, Minnesota. After many years of residing in the Twin City area of Minnesota, the couple settled in Amery,WI . During his working years, Gordon worked for Remington Rand, Fabri-Tek and later retired from Dynatronix in 1988. He enjoyed model railroads, building steam engines and was an avid chess player. He served on the Our Saviors Church Council and was a long time member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church.
Gordon is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Shirley; 3 sons, Allen (Mary) Jacobson, Robert (Kathy) Jacobson and Dennis (Mary) Jacobson; 2 daughters, Susan (LeRoy) Karpenske and Joyce (Ed) Schmidt; 17 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren . He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Richard and Robert and a great-granddaughter Hannah.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Amery with Pastor Keith Ruehlow officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the Amery Cemetery.
