Obituary

Harold (Bob) Pearson passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Westfields Hospital in
New Richmond, Wisconsin.

Bob was born on December 2, 1923 in Minot, North Dakota to John and Alma (Wendt) Pearson the ninth
of eleven children. When his parents named him Harold, his four older sisters, who had wanted his name
to be Robert, decided to call him Bobby. Hence the name 'Bob' that most people knew him by for
the rest of his 93 years. Bob spent his childhood roaming the hills of the family farm near Minot. Once
while sitting on one of those hills watching the cattle he carved his name into a rock. Many years later he
took some of his kids back to that farm and found the rock. They hauled it back to Amery and placed it in
his yard where it remains today.

Bob served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946. After his
honorable discharge he started working for Bell Telephone in the Twin Cities as a cable splicer. He met
Colleen Cook in 1945, they fell in love and were married on June 20, 1947 in St. Paul, Minnesota. In
1948 they purchased a small farm in rural Clayton, Wisconsin. While living there their six children were
born. During this time Bob started working part time for the Clayton Telephone Company. In May of 1955
he was hired full time by Amery Telephone Company where he worked for 31 years.

In December of 1957 he and Colleen moved their family to a new home located on Highway 46 just
South of Amery. While living here Bob enjoyed gardening, woodworking, dancing, fishing, hunting,
traveling with Colleen including several family trips with the kids. One of his favorite things in life was
taking walks in the "back 40", which he did almost daily for several decades.

Bob loved the outdoors. After retirement he enjoyed trapping in the fall and winter and in the summer
he had dozens of blue bird houses that he monitored and maintained. On WXCE radio he was fondly
referred to as "Bluebird Bob." He always enjoyed reading books, especially those about the Civil War. Bob
was a member of First Lutheran Church in Amery for 58 years. He was a member of the Amery Lions Club
for many years and participated in numerous regional parades as a member of the Amery Clown Club.

Bob is survived by his children, Mike (Pat) Pearson of Afton, MN, Patty (Larry) Kuhl of Amery, WI,
Randy (Lori) Pearson of Bloomington, Illinois, Vicki (Roger) Breault of Luck, WI and Steve (Sheryl)
Pearson of La Crosse, Wisconsin; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces,
nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years Colleen; an infant son, Richard; a
grandson-in-law, Jeff Aune; his parents; brothers, Harry, Ray, Johnny, Stanley and Earl; Sisters, Myrtle,
Evelyn, Irene, Betty and Donna.
