Henry Utecht, age 90, of Amery, WI passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025.
Henry was born on October 22, 1935 to Emil and Jeanette (Clemmens) in Cylon Township, WI. He grew up and attended grade school in the Amery area. Afterwards, he joined the Army where he was stationed in Germany. One of his favorite stories from his time in the service (and one that he told many times) was meeting Elvis and getting his picture taken with him.
In 1963, Henry married Virginia Spreeman and to this union they had 6 children. They raised their children on a farm in Glenwood City and then later moved back to Amery. Henry and Virginia later separated, but they always remained good friends. Henry spent the last few years of his life living at Water's Edge in Amery.
Henry was always up for a visit to the casino to play the slot machines. He also loved playing cards, especially 500. He was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amery where he took part in the Knights of Columbus as well.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Betty Jean Utecht; sister, Evelyn Swanson; and brothers, Emil Jr. and LeRoy.
He is survived by his children, Susan Olson, Ben (Lynn), Daniel, Sandy (Kurt) Howell, and Gary (Sheila); many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Bazille; life-long friend, Virginia Spreeman; and many other loving friends and family.
A visitation will be held on Monday, December 8, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at Williamson-White Funeral Home in Amery, WI. A Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be at 11:00am on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amery with a visitation one hour prior. Interment will take place at St. John Catholic Cemetery in Glenwood City, WI at a later date.
