Herbert Edward Roettger, 87, of Amery, WI passed away from complications after a brief illness, on March 5, 2017 at United Hospital in St. Paul, MN.

Visitation will be held Wednesday March 8, 2017, 5 to 7 pm at the Williamson-White Funeral Home in Amery Wisconsin. The funeral service will be held at the Congregational Church in Amery, Wisconsin at 11 am on Thursday with visitation an hour before the service.
Herb was born in Lake Elmo, Minnesota to Edward and Elizabeth Roettger on September 13, 1929. He went Lake Elmo school. He was in the Army, posted in Okinawa, for two years before his marriage to Nyla Koerper on September 19, 1953. They started their family in New Richmond, Wisconsin where they lived for 44 years. Herb worked at Doughboy manufacturing until his retirement. They moved to Amery after retirement where they lived the last 19 years.
Herbert was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Elizabeth and brothers William, Edward, Harold, and Donald.
Herb is survived by his wife Nyla, children; Stacy (Utpal) Saha, Colleen (Mike) DeMarco; grandchildren; Adam DeMarco, Ryan DeMarco, Priyanka Saha and Ashish Saha. He is also survived by siblings Donna Kane, Ronald (Sharon) Roettger, Richard Roettger, Lisa Hetzel and Todd (Lisa) Roettger.
Herb was an avid outdoorsman and loved camping, fishing, and hunting. He was a member of the Rod and Gun Club in New Richmond. Some of his hunting adventures included elk, moose, bear and deer. He was also a talented carpenter and many of his pieces are proudly displayed in his daughters' homes. He was a doting Papa to his grandchildren and loved just spending time with them. He spent his last two years living at Golden Age Manor in Amery where he was known for his sense of humor.
Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers. Sincere thanks to his caregivers over the last few years at Golden Age Manor, Amery Regional Medical Center, Westfields in New Richmond and United Hospital, St. Paul for their loving and compassionate care.
