IRENE "ISH" BRANDT
Irene was born on May 19,1931 in Chicago, IL to Charles Rebersky and Mary Skola Rebersky. Her parent's had immigrated to the USA, she always embraced her Croatian heritage. Ish died peacefully at Amery Regional Medical Center on April 28, 2014. Growing up on the south side of Chicago with 6 siblings created a spunky attitude in Ish, at age 16 she tried out for the Chicago Pioneer's Roller Derby team. Her small stature and big attitude gained her a spot on the team until they found out she was to young. She then went to work for Lakeside Central Company where she met her future husband. She was united in marriage to Robert C. Brandt on February 3, 1951. Together they made their home in Cicero, IL where they raised 4 sons. After their retirement they returned to northern Wisconsin to be closer to their family. Irene delighted in entertaining family and friends with her great sense of humor. She also enjoyed bowling, NASCAR racing, cooking, doing puzzles, playing cards and bingo.
She is survived by her children, Bradley, Bob (Cheryl), Bart (Brenda) all of Turtle Lake, WI and Brian (Donna) of Lamont, IL. Her grandchildren, the "light of her life" are Robert (Virginia Flowers), Ashley of Lamont, IL, Justin (Lauren Fountain), Kyle, Gabrielle, Tyler, and Ben of Turtle Lake, WI.Ish is all so survived by her devoted friend of 75 years Patricia Kasper of Bartlett, IL.She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, infant son Dale, her parents, brothers and sisters Steve, John, Stanley, Charles Jr, Mildred, and Blanche.
Visitation will be 4:00 - 7:00 pm on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Williamson-White Funeral Home, 222 Harriman Avenue North, Amery, WI and 1 hour prior to service at the church on Friday. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, May 2 at First Lutheran Church, Amery officiated by Rev. Tim Bjorge. Interment will be in Saint Croix Falls, WI.
